The outlier in the Silent range
Everything else Silent Yachts builds is a solar catamaran designed to cross oceans at displacement pace. The 28 Speed is the opposite: a foil-assisted, surface-piercing-propeller speedboat with twin eD-QDrive motors totalling 200 kW and a 100 kWh pack, shown at Cannes in 2022 with a claimed top speed above 60 knots. If you are choosing between this and a Silent 60 or 80, you are not really comparing boats — this is a statement tender or a high-performance toy, not a cruiser.
Reading the numbers
The 70 nm range and the 60-knot claim belong to opposite ends of the throttle. On a 100 kWh pack, 200 kW of installed power drains the battery in roughly half an hour at full output, so the quoted range is a slow-speed figure and hard running will be measured in minutes, not hours. That is the standard trade in electric performance boats, but it is unusually stark here.
The larger caveat is status. No price has been disclosed, the headline speed is a builder claim rather than an independently verified figure, and this is a boat that has drawn show attention rather than an established production record. Anyone seriously interested should ask for a current build status, a price, and a measured speed run before treating it as a purchasable product.
