The published 22 nautical mile range is the number that defines the Highfield Sport 660, and it should be read as a feature of the brief rather than a shortcoming. An 84 kWh pack against an 86 kW motor gives roughly an hour at full output — ample for shuttling guests from a mother ship to a beach, running a resort transfer, or working a marina, and quite inadequate for coastal touring. Fourteen passengers and 29.5 knots confirm the role: short, repeated, high-turnover hops. If you want a RIB to explore a coastline for a day, this is not it.
Strengths and open questions
The choice of Highfield's aluminium-hulled Sport 660 as the platform is a genuine plus. It is a proven, widely supported hull with established parts and dealer networks, so the novelty is confined to the drivetrain rather than the whole boat. Hypalon tubes and hydraulic steering are the right specification for hard commercial use.
The caveats are commercial rather than technical. No price is published, which for a fleet buyer modelling cost per transfer is the missing half of the equation. Flux Marine is a US builder, so European buyers should establish service coverage, spares lead times and charging specification locally before committing — and confirm that the charge rate available at your berth can actually turn the boat round between runs.
