Who it suits

This is a Mediterranean day boat, and it behaves like one on paper: no cabin, no berths, 1,450 kg dry, and a 30-knot top speed. It suits an owner with a berth or a mooring, short hops between beaches and lunch spots, and access to charging at the dock. It does not suit anyone who needs to cross open water on a schedule, or who wants to sleep aboard.

What 40 kWh and 30 knots actually mean together

They do not mean both at once. At full 50 kW output a 40 kWh pack lasts around 48 minutes; the published 50 nm range is therefore an economical-cruise figure, not a 30-knot figure. That is normal and not a criticism, but it is the single most important thing a buyer should clarify — ask De Antonio for range at 6, 12 and 20 knots, because the gap between those numbers determines whether the boat fits your typical day.

Against the alternatives

The E23 is one of the more credible fast electric day boats in the sub-8 m band precisely because the rest of the De Antonio range is petrol-outboard day boats: the hull, deck and build quality come from a yard that sells this shape of boat in volume, rather than from an electric start-up learning boatbuilding. The flip side is that this is a combustion-first builder with one electric model, so establish what the battery and drivetrain warranty covers and who services it locally.
