The Cosmopolitan Yachts 66's published pairing — a 450 kWh bank against 360 kW of motor — tells you most of what you need. At full power that battery is a little over an hour, so the 20-knot top speed is a sprint capability, not a cruising mode. The 66 is a boat conceived around slow, quiet passage-making at displacement speed, with solar trickling in and a diesel generator acting as range extender when the sums stop working. Prospective buyers should be clear-eyed about that: it is a series hybrid, and on a long passage the fuel tank is doing real work. The 10.67 m beam buys genuinely exceptional interior and deck volume for 20 metres of length, which is the commercial argument for the type.
Caveats
The yard publishes neither a price nor a range, and both are material at this size — without them the boat cannot be compared properly against the established solar-electric catamarans it competes with. All-aluminium construction is a real advantage for repairability and for one-off customisation, though it demands a yard and a surveyor comfortable with the material. The larger risk is that this is a young brand with a short delivery record; anyone commissioning an early hull should expect first-of-type teething and should structure stage payments accordingly.
