Not a private purchase

The P-12 is a commercial vessel and should be assessed as one. Thirty passengers, hydrofoil-borne, designed for scheduled water transit — it belongs on an operator's balance sheet, not in a private owner's fleet. The case for it is straightforward and genuinely strong: foiling cuts drag sharply, which is what makes an electric ferry viable at useful speed, and the near-absence of wake opens up speed-restricted urban waterways that conventional craft cannot use at pace. Candela already has the type in revenue service on Stockholm public transport, which is the single most valuable fact here — this is not a concept awaiting a first customer.

What a buyer must establish

Our listing carries no motor, battery, range or price figures, so the operating economics cannot be modelled from what we hold; those need to come from the yard directly. Beyond the vessel itself, the decision is really an infrastructure decision. Foiling ferries need fast shoreside charging at the terminals, crew trained on a foiling platform, and a route profile where the speed advantage is actually realisable — short, frequent, wake-sensitive runs. On a long open-water crossing with no charging at the far end, the calculation changes completely. Buyers should also confirm class and flag approval for their own jurisdiction rather than assuming Swedish precedent transfers.
