Who it suits

The 750 Portofino Deluxe is a lake boat for an owner with a boathouse, and it makes no apology for that. Twin 50 kW Piktronik motors and twin 35.6 kWh packs give 100 kW against 71.2 kWh — so at anything near the 21-knot top speed the useful running time is well under an hour, and Boesch's own 14 nm range figure confirms it. Read that as an afternoon of short runs on Zurich, Geneva or Como with a charge point waiting at the end, not as a coastal cruiser.

What you are actually paying for

€336,000 for 7.5 m is extraordinary on any efficiency measure, and a buyer chasing miles or knots per euro should look at hydrofoiling alternatives that deliver several times the range for less money. But that is not the trade on offer here. Boesch has been laminating mahogany hulls since 1910, and the electric version retains the mid-mounted motor and straight shaft of the petrol boats rather than reinventing the layout, so it is built and serviced like the rest of the range. Buy it as a piece of craftsmanship with a quiet drivetrain and it makes sense; buy it as transport and it does not. Note also that the electric option is confined to models up to 25 ft — a larger Boesch will be petrol.
